Hello From Belize!

Hello Friends! Just wanted to give you all an update on the ministry here in Belize. I know many of you have been praying for Lisa and thank you soooo much! Lisa had neck surgery in January and has been recovering. She in the past week has taken the neck brace off full time and is adjusting well. The worst problem is keeping her from doing too much because she is still recovering! Here is the most recent picture of Lisa and I!

We had a great Holy Week and Easter! The country of Belize is very respectful of Holy Week. The school children are out of school for two weeks and on Good Friday the whole country shuts down. In fact it is illegal for businesses to be open on that day. "Easter Monday" is a family day and most businesses are closed. This year our Circuit took a bus to Cerros Beach Resort and had a day of rest and eating at the beach there!

Easter Sunrise!

Okay, enough pictures. I have so many, but this gives you a flavor of what is going on in Belize!

We are so blessed to have friends come and help in Corozal and Libertad. Pam Seales and Christine Endicott came from KY to work with teachers and volleyball teams. What a great time! Pam applied for and was approved to begin a teaching program in Corozal and Libertad through the University of Kentucky! We are so excited to be a part of a study abroad program!

We ae also excited with the new computers and programs being implemented for our two schools. The Southern Hills UMC (our home church) is helping the circuit and we sooo appreciate Teddy, Eric and Bryan. They came in January to survey things. We also had a team from North Carolina in February who brought 10 new chrome books to kick start the program. The NC team also helped us work on the new Methodst Guest House which is up and running. The eye doctors have been here twice in 2018 and we are hosting a team from Peachtree Road UMC in Atlanta next week. We also enjoyed Jim Mackey for 3 months when he came to help us with I.T. work. We are so grateful for his help. This was his third trip to Belize as a volunteer.

Please Pray for:

Lisa’s continued healing. The doctor told her she will be still healing for a year. This surgery has helped her pain and in some ways her function. She believes that God has really blessed her with a supernatural ability to rest during this time because it has always been hard for her to be still.

Our ministry here in Belize. Pray for more of the people of Belize to learn about a personal relationship with Christ. Pray for Jamie to have endurance. He is spread so thin and is responsible for many things!

For our children: Brandon, his wife Rebecca and their foster baby whom they have enjoyed for the last year. This little guy is precious! Daughter Rachel, who is in Denver and works in out patient therapy at a mental health hospital. She will soon be starting her quest for furthering her education! Daughter Becca and hubby Jared in North Carolina. Jared is on track to finish his PhD in 2 more years at NCSU. Becca was just accepted at Duke and will be starting her PhD in the fall. They are moving from Raleigh to Durham so she will be closer. Also pray for Lisa’s parents’ health. They will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary in June 2018!!

We celebrate Aldersgate Sunday this weekend and will have a couple of hundred kids and adults at the Corozal Methodist Church! Pray for safety and fun!

Peace, Lisa and Jamie
